In a medium size mixing bowl, whisk together whole eggs, pumpkin spice, sugar, and salt until thoroughly combined.
Add heavy cream and continue whisking.
Strain the milk mixture into a clean container through a fine sieve. Set aside for later use. You can make this mixture the night before.
Work on each slice of bread at a time. Add a slice to the milk liquid and soak on each side for 10 seconds.
In a large skillet, heat a cube of butter over medium heat until it is melted completely.
Put the slice in the middle of the pan and toast for 2 minutes on each side, or until nicely golden brown.
Repeat this process until all the bread slices are toasted.
Serve French toast immediately with your desired toppings: a cube of softened butter, whipped cream, fresh fruit, a generous amount of honey or syrup, and sprinkle with powdered sugar and extra pumpkin spice for more flavor.
