How to make simple syrup
Of course an easy drink has to come with a simple and not over complicated syrup. That said, the sweetener ingredient in this easy Vodka mixed drink recipe is, surprise surprise, super fast and easy to make.
All you need to do are:
- Add an equal amount of sugar and water in a sauce pan. Bring to boil then simmer for 5 minutes to dissolve sugar completely.
- Add your favorite citrus zest to the mixture (like orange zest if applying for this recipe). This is optional, you can skip this part if you want to keep thing as simple as it is.
- Let the syrup cool down completely to room temperature before using in any mixed drink recipe.
Simple syrup can be kept in an air tight container, under refrigeration, for up to a month. Or as mentioned above, if you don't feel like making syrup yourself, you can always opt for a store bought sweetener option.
