Tips to make the best French toast
If you take a closer look at my French toast stack, you can see it is fluffy, big, and very eye-appealing. It is safe to say these are also a perfect replica of the famous Rock toast (The Rock's French toast) that was trending on social media during the past months. And why is that?
Because I'm using no other sandwich than the Texas-style toast a.k.a thick styled bread.
- So tip number 1 - make sure your bread slice is 1-1.5 inches thick.
- Use a soft type of bread such as brioche, challah, or enriched-style bread.
- If time is on your side, make a milk mixture a night before; your toast will taste better this way, I promise.
- Use high-quality cooking spice; for this recipe, use the best pumpkin spice as possible.
- Soak the bread on each side for 10 seconds so it can fully absorb the milk mixture's flavor.
- Cook on medium heat and toast for at least 2 minutes each side.
- Use a paper towel and wipe away any burnt butter in the skillet before adding the next slice of bread to keep your French toast nicely browned.
A quick how-to guide
- Work on each slice of bread at a time. Add a slice to the milk liquid and soak on each side for 10 seconds (for a 1-inch slice).
- In a large skillet, heat a cube of butter over medium heat until it is melted completely.
- Put the slice in the middle of the pan and toast for 2 minutes on each side, or until nicely golden brown.
- Repeat this process until all the bread slices are toasted.
- Add a cube of softened butter on top and drizzle with pure honey or pure maple syrup before serving.
