What you need to make these baked parmesan chicken wings
Just some very basic ingredients needed to make these delicious wings.
- Unsalted butter - used to coat the wings before dredging them in parmesan & spice mixture.
- Garlic powder - I used granulated garlic powder from Trader Joe's. It's such amazing spice. It's not too fine so you can still taste and smell the garlic. I did not use fresh garlic thus it's easier to burn when baking.
- Parmesan cheese - always use freshly grated cheese. I mention this over and over in many of my recipes. Unless you intend to feed 100 people, freshly grated cheese is your best friend from this point forward.
- Seasoning - spice the wings up a little bit with Italian seasoning or oregano, white pepper, and paprika.
- Bread crumbs - I used Japanese style panko bread crumbs to create a extra crispy outer layer for these wings. They help soaking up the butter so the wings can become more crispy while baking in the oven.
How to make this easy Super Bowl appetizer
- Prep - Cut the wings at the joint to separate flaps and drums. You can discard the wing tips or save them for later use (such as making chicken stock). Line a baking pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
- Coat - In a mixing bowl, coat chicken wings with melted unsalted butter evenly. By dong so, it's saving time rather than dipping each wing into butter.
- Dredge - Combine freshly grated cheese, bread crumbs with seasoning in another mixing bowl. Dredge chicken wings into this mixture. Press gently to adhere the mixture onto the wings.
- Bake - Arrange the wings on baking pan at least 2 in apart. Bake in the oven at 350F until the skin turned golden brown and the juice runs clear, approximately 20 to 25 minutes. Remember to rotate the pan half way of the process for evenly cooking.
